This past weekend, I had my fifth year college reunion at Spelman College. Traditionally, we wear white dresses, nude hose and black closed-toe shoes. Our campus becomes a sea of beautiful, educated, women of color in white. The only issue with wearing white is makeup stains! See below for a few tips on how to avoid getting your beat on someone’s shoulder!
- Setting Powder
Using a setting powder helps to seal your foundation and allows your makeup to last longer. It prevents shine, and creates that airbrushed effect. Try Ben Nye Luxury Powder ($15).
- Setting Spray
Setting sprays are similar to powders, but in a weightless mist form. Setting sprays extend the length of your makeup and help to avoid settling. Try NYX Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray ($7.99).
Try using less foundation, especially in the summer months when people are more likely to have on pastels and whites. For those that need more coverage, try a full coverage foundation or spot treat hyperpigmentation with a concealer that matches your skin tone.
Last, but definitely not least, try giving hugs where your face doesn’t touch the other person’s body! It may look a little weird, but you avoid wasting all the work you put into your makeup and messing up their outfit.
Would you try any of these methods to avoid your makeup transferring?
